Tinkerbelle

This watercolor was done from a photo by Janice Clark, the Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) photographer. It is a painting of Tinkerbelle, who was lucky enough to be sent to a sanctuary from the San Francisco zoo, to spend her last years there. She passed away in 2005 from advanced foot disease. It had progressed too far to save her life and it's the plight of many captive elephants kept in zoo enclosures that are hard concrete and too small for these magnificent animals. She will always be remembered. This is a memorial portrait.
